I wanted to capture the essence of what it means to commute around the Toronto subway in this series.
I had some issues and could not shoot on the subway platform as intended. My model had already arrived when I was told to relocate. I talked with my team and decided to move the image to the exterior of Bay Station. I had to compose and take the shot in an hour because the change of location put me behind schedule. Despite the time crunch and its impromptu nature, this is my favourite shot.
I planned to shoot this image on the subway platform and had begun to do so when I was told to relocate. I was unhappy with what I had achieved. I didn’t want to give up on my vision of including a subway train so I brought my model back to reshoot behind an elevated subway bridge. I like the way this image compliments the other two in tone and helps to tell a story.
The image Girl on the Train was researched and planned out thoroughly to work around the brief time the subway runs above ground because I wanted to utilize the beautiful window light. I recruited and worked with a team to create this image because I needed extra help considering the tight time frame, difficulty, and precision required. I like how this image emulates the tone I was aiming for and the dramatic lighting I wished to achieve.
